Four babies....
Talitha wanted me to post that her gerbil "Honey" had four babies on the 24th. They are suprisingly cute and a lot of fun to watch. Honey seems to be a good mother. It appears that all the babies are doing well, but right now she has them so well covered that we can't see them. We hope that they are o.k. Talitha is a little worried about how often she leaves the nest. Time will tell. Excitement is very high, Talitha says it seems like a dream.
This brings our count of pets up to 19 (how did that happen?). We also recently got a parakeet named Smudge. Talitha has been reading up on them for a while and it is her newest interest. So, when we went to get her a new beta (Sally had died) and there was a parakeet with cage and lots of supplies up for adoption (free) I decided to take it home. It's a low cost experiment in how interested she really is and what it is like to have one. Smudge has been fun so far, she talks back and forth with the finches at the bird feeder and tweets back and forth with us when we get home from somewhere.
After being like Talitha as a kid I am enjoying things like the baby gerbils even as an adult. We are learning a lot and enjoying these things together.
Kent was gone for the weekend and brought home a big snail. Corban was so excited that his dad brought him home a "pet" snail. What was I supposed to do? let it die? So, another trip to Goodwill for a fish bowl, a little peat moss and sand and now we have "Mr. Stripe" all settled in.
Who knows what will happen next.....

You are really a great mom! taking care of two kids and 19 animals is a real task and I know you have your hands full. For us, two kids & two fish is more than enough work!
